Zita 200 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Zita (cefixime oral suspension) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections including otitis media, pharyngitis, urinary tract infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 200 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Adults and adolescents over 12 years or over 50 kg: 200–400 mg/day in 1–2 divided doses. Children: 8 mg/kg/day as a single dose or two divided doses. Shake well before use and complete the full course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (common).
• Nausea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache.
• Skin rash (uncommon).
• Hypersensitivity reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
• Use with caution in renal impairment.
• Shake well before each dose.
• Complete the full prescribed course.
• May cause pseudomembranous colitis
• discontinue if severe diarrhoea occurs.
