STARCEF® Dry Syrup 100 mg / 5 ml

Indication

STARCEF Dry Syrup (cefixime 100 mg/5 ml) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections in children and adults including otitis media, pharyngitis, urinary tract infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Children: 8 mg/kg/day as a single daily dose or divided into 2 doses every 12 hours. Adults: 200–400 mg/day in 1–2 divided doses. Reconstitute with water as directed on the label. Shake well before each dose.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (common).
• Nausea
• abdominal discomfort.
• Headache.
• Skin rash (uncommon).
• Hypersensitivity reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
• Use with caution in renal impairment.
• Shake well before each dose.
• Complete the full prescribed course.
• Refrigerate reconstituted suspension
• use within 14 days.
