Indication

CIPROLAR-FC (ciprofloxacin film-coated tablet) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and skin/soft tissue infections.

Ingredients

• Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride 500 mg (film
• coated)

Direction

Adults: 500 mg twice daily (every 12 hours) for most infections. Take with a full glass of water; may be taken with or without food. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Rash (uncommon).
• Tendinitis or tendon rupture (rare
• more common in elderly).
• Photosensitivity (avoid excessive sun exposure).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to ciprofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
• Avoid antacids containing aluminium/magnesium within 2 hours of a dose.
• Use with caution in patients with epilepsy or tendon disorders.
• Risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture
• particularly in the elderly and with corticosteroid use.
• Not recommended in children and adolescents (except for specific indications).
• Adequate hydration is important during therapy.
• Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
