Indication

Cicatryl DM is a combination cough and cold syrup containing an antitussive (dextromethorphan) and a nasal decongestant (phenylephrine) for the symptomatic relief of dry cough and nasal congestion associated with upper respiratory tract infections.

Ingredients

• Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 15 mg per 5 ml
• Phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 10 ml every 4–6 hours. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml every 4–6 hours. Maximum 4 doses in 24 hours. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Drowsiness or dizziness.
• Nausea.
• Increased blood pressure (phenylephrine).
• Dry mouth.
• Excitability or restlessness in children (uncommon).

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 6 years.
• Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors.
• Use with caution in hypertension
• hyperthyroidism
• diabetes
• and cardiovascular disease.
• Consult a physician if cough persists more than 7 days.
• Avoid alcohol.
