Paracetamol Injection 300

Indication

Used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and for reduction of fever (antipyretic). Indicated when oral administration is not possible or is inappropriate.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol 300 mg per 2 mL (150 mg/mL)

Direction

Adults and adolescents over 50 kg: 300–600 mg by intravenous or intramuscular injection every 4–6 hours as needed; maximum 4 doses (1200–2400 mg) in 24 hours. Dose in children should be calculated by weight; consult prescribing information. Administer slowly IV over 15 minutes.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting (uncommon).
• Hypotension (rare
• with IV administration).
• Hepatotoxicity in overdose.
• Allergic reactions including rash or anaphylaxis (rare).

Precautions

• Do not exceed the maximum recommended dose to avoid serious hepatic damage.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• renal impairment
• or chronic alcoholism.
• Do not use concurrently with other paracetamol
• containing products.
• Caution in patients with G6PD deficiency.
• Keep out of reach of children.
