Indication

A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicine for symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, relief of ankylosing spondylitis symptoms, acute pain, and primary dysmenorrhea. The package also lists adenomatous colorectal polyps.

Ingredients

• Celecoxib 200 mg

Direction

Follow a physician’s instructions. Package directions: 200 mg daily for osteoarthritis; 100–200 mg twice daily for rheumatoid arthritis; initial 400 mg followed by an additional 200 mg if needed on the first day for pain or dysmenorrhea; 400 mg twice daily for adenomatous colorectal polyps.

Side effects

• Commonly reported effects include abdominal pain
• diarrhea
• indigestion
• gas
• and peripheral edema. Serious effects can include cardiovascular thrombotic events
• gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration
• kidney or liver injury
• high blood pressure
• heart failure
• anaphylaxis
• and severe skin reactions.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to celecoxib or sulfonamides
• or after an allergic or asthma
• type reaction to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Celecoxib carries serious cardiovascular and gastrointestinal risks

• or during pregnancy. Stop and seek care for severe allergic or skin reactions.
