Zetro 200mg / 5mL

Indication

Zetro is a macrolide antibiotic used for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible organisms, including community-acquired pneumonia, pharyngitis or tonsillitis, acute otitis media, skin and skin-structure infections, and chlamydial infections.

Ingredients

• Azithromycin 200 mg per 5 mL (oral suspension)

Direction

Adults: 500 mg once daily for 3 days, or 500 mg on day 1 then 250 mg once daily on days 2–5. Children (6 months and over): 10 mg/kg once daily for 3 days, or per physician instruction. Shake suspension well before use. May be taken with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• nausea
• abdominal pain (common).
• Vomiting.
• Headache.
• Dizziness (uncommon).
• QT prolongation (rare).
• Allergic reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic disease or significant renal impairment.
• May prolong QT interval
• caution in patients with risk factors for cardiac arrhythmias.
• Check for drug interactions (antacids reduce absorption if taken simultaneously).
• Keep out of reach of children.
