Indication

Emergency contraception to reduce the chance of pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure. It is not for routine contraception.

Ingredients

• Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg

Direction

Take one tablet by mouth as soon as possible, within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure; the sooner it is taken, the better. If vomiting occurs soon after taking the tablet, contact a doctor or pharmacist promptly and follow the enclosed product leaflet about whether another dose is needed.

Side effects

• Possible effects include menstrual changes
• tiredness
• breast pain
• nausea
• headache
• vomiting
• lower abdominal pain
• or dizziness.

Precautions

• For emergency use only
• do not use as routine contraception.
• This medicine will not work if pregnancy is already present and does not affect an existing pregnancy.
• It does not protect against HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted infections.
• Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if taking efavirenz
• rifampin
• or medicines for seizures
• because these may reduce levonorgestrel effectiveness.
