Almex 400mg

Indication

Almex (albendazole 400 mg) is an anthelmintic used for the treatment of intestinal parasitic worm infections including roundworm, hookworm, pinworm, whipworm, and strongyloides; also used in systemic helminthic infections (hydatid disease, neurocysticercosis).

Ingredients

• Albendazole 400 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 2 years: 400 mg as a single dose for common intestinal parasites; repeat after 2 weeks if needed. For systemic infections (e.g. hydatid cyst): 400 mg twice daily with food for 28-day cycles as directed by physician.

Side effects

• Abdominal discomfort
• nausea
• and vomiting (common with systemic use).
• Headache.
• Elevated liver enzymes (uncommon).
• Alopecia with prolonged therapy.
• Bone marrow suppression (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to albendazole or benzimidazole compounds.
• Avoid during pregnancy — not recommended for women of childbearing potential without using contraception.
• Monitor liver enzymes and blood counts with prolonged treatment.
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
