Indication

Ascoril Expectorant is a combination syrup used for the management of cough with congestion, particularly in conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, and other respiratory tract disorders with viscous mucus secretions. It relieves bronchospasm (salbutamol), thins and loosens mucus (guaiphenesin), and promotes expectoration (bromhexine).

Ingredients

• Salbutamol 2 mg per 5 mL
• Bromhexine Hydrochloride 4 mg per 5 mL
• Guaiphenesin 100 mg per 5 mL

Direction

Adults: 10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) three times daily. Children (6–12 years): 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) three times daily. Children (2–6 years): 2.5 mL three times daily. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Tremor and palpitations (due to salbutamol).
• Nausea and gastrointestinal upset.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease
• hypertension
• hyperthyroidism
• or diabetes (due to salbutamol component).
• Do not use in patients hypersensitive to any component.
• Avoid in patients with peptic ulcer disease.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
