Diabetmin Retard 850 mg

Indication

Diabetmin Retard is an extended-release metformin tablet used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, either alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.

Ingredients

• Metformin Hydrochloride 850 mg (modified
• release/retard tablet)

Direction

Adults: initially 850 mg once daily with evening meal; increase gradually to usual dose of 850–1700 mg twice daily with meals. Maximum 2550 mg/day in divided doses. Swallow whole — do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea (less common than immediate
• release
• take with food).
• Metallic taste.
• Lactic acidosis (rare but serious).
• Vitamin B12 deficiency with prolonged use.
• Hypoglycaemia does not occur with metformin monotherapy.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min)
• hepatic impairment
• or conditions associated with tissue hypoxia.
• Temporarily discontinue before procedures using contrast media.
• Avoid excessive alcohol intake.
• Monitor renal function periodically.
• Keep out of reach of children.
