Primodil 5 5 mg

Indication

Primodil 5 (amlodipine) is a calcium channel blocker used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable angina pectoris. It may also be used in vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg (as amlodipine besylate)

Direction

Adults: 5 mg once daily; may increase to 10 mg once daily based on blood pressure response. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling) — most common.
• Flushing and warmth.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Palpitations.
• Nausea (uncommon).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine or other dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers.
• Use with caution in patients with severe aortic stenosis or cardiogenic shock.
• May cause peripheral oedema — monitor regularly.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
