ALSARTAN-AM Losartan Potassium + Amlodipine Besylate

Indication

ALSARTAN-AM is a combination antihypertensive product containing an angiotensin II receptor blocker (losartan) and a calcium channel blocker (amlodipine) used for the treatment of essential hypertension when blood pressure is not adequately controlled by either drug alone.

Ingredients

• Losartan Potassium 50 mg
• Amlodipine Besylate 5 mg

Direction

Adults: one tablet once daily. Dosage may be adjusted based on blood pressure response. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (from amlodipine).
• Dizziness.
• Headache.
• Upper respiratory tract infection.
• Hyperkalaemia.
• Fatigue.
• Nausea (uncommon).

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to losartan
• amlodipine
• or any excipient.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy (second and third trimester).
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
• severe aortic stenosis
• or heart failure.
• Monitor electrolytes
• renal function
• and blood pressure.
• Keep out of reach of children.
