Indication

Short-term treatment of insomnia in adults, including difficulty falling asleep and maintaining sleep.

Ingredients

• Zolpidem tartrate 10 mg

Direction

Adults: 10 mg orally once daily immediately before bedtime. Elderly or debilitated patients: 5 mg once daily. Do not exceed 10 mg per day. Take only when you are able to get a full night's sleep (7–8 hours). Do not take with or immediately after a meal.

Side effects

• Daytime drowsiness or dizziness.
• Headache.
• Nausea.
• Amnesia (memory impairment).
• Hallucinations or complex sleep behaviours (sleep
• walking
• sleep
• driving).
• Rebound insomnia on discontinuation.

Precautions

• Not recommended for children under 18 years.
• Use with caution in the elderly — risk of falls and confusion.
• Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants during treatment.
• May cause next
• day drowsiness
• avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Risk of dependence
• limit to short
• term use (maximum 4 weeks).
• Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment
• myasthenia gravis
• severe respiratory failure
• and sleep apnea syndrome.
• Abrupt discontinuation may cause withdrawal symptoms
• taper dose if stopping after prolonged use.
