Neo-Codion Per coated tablet: codeine camphosulfonate 25 mg (equivalent to codeine base 14.93 mg), sulfogaiacol 100 mg, and grindelia extract 20 mg

Indication

For short-term relief of dry, irritating cough in adults, according to the French public medicine leaflet.

Ingredients

• Codeine camphosulfonate 25 mg (equivalent to codeine base 14.93 mg) per tablet
• Sulfogaiacol 100 mg per tablet
• Grindelia extract 20 mg per tablet

Direction

Prescription use only. Follow the prescriber’s instructions. The French leaflet gives 1 tablet per dose, at least 6 hours apart as needed, no more than 4 tablets per day, and for only a few days. Swallow with a little water.

Side effects

• Possible effects include constipation
• drowsiness
• dizziness
• nausea
• vomiting
• and abdominal pain. Rare effects include respiratory depression
• bronchospasm
• and allergic skin reactions. Codeine can cause dependence and withdrawal with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Prescription medicine for adults only. Codeine can cause dependence
• misuse
• severe sleepiness
• and breathing problems. Avoid alcohol and check with a doctor or pharmacist before combining with sedatives or other cough medicines. Do not use while breastfeeding. Do not use for a wet/productive cough. Do not drive before reading the leaflet
