Asolan 0.5 mg

Indication

Short-term symptomatic relief of anxiety disorders and anxiety associated with depression. Also indicated for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.

Ingredients

• Alprazolam 0.5 mg

Direction

Adults: 0.25–0.5 mg three times daily. Dose may be titrated upward as needed. Maximum dose 4 mg/day for anxiety; up to 10 mg/day for panic disorder. Elderly or debilitated patients: Start with 0.25 mg two to three times daily. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration.

Side effects

• Sedation and drowsiness.
• Memory impairment.
• Ataxia (loss of coordination).
• Confusion.
• Paradoxical excitement or agitation (rare).
• Dependence and withdrawal symptoms on discontinuation.

Precautions

• High potential for dependence and abuse — limit to short
• term use.
• Contraindicated in acute narrow
• angle glaucoma
• myasthenia gravis
• and severe respiratory failure.
• Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
• May impair driving and operation of machinery.
• Do not stop abruptly — taper dose slowly to avoid withdrawal seizures.
• Use with extreme caution in patients with history of substance abuse.
• Keep out of reach of children.
