Avestalo™ 10 mg

Indication

Reduction of elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglycerides, and to increase HDL-cholesterol. Prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with risk factors.

Ingredients

• Atorvastatin calcium 10 mg

Direction

Adults: Initial dose 10–20 mg once daily. Doses may be adjusted to 10–80 mg once daily based on lipid levels and therapeutic goals. Take at any time of day, with or without food. Adjustments at intervals of at least 4 weeks.

Side effects

• Muscle pain (myalgia).
• Headache.
• Nausea and diarrhoea.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Rhabdomyolysis (rare but serious).
• Increased risk of diabetes.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in serum transaminases.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis — report unexplained muscle pain
• weakness
• or tenderness immediately.
• Risk increases when combined with fibrates
• niacin
• or potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.
• Monitor liver function tests at baseline and periodically.
• Keep out of reach of children.
