Avarin 300mg

Indication

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Treatment of renal disease in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and proteinuria as part of an antihypertensive treatment regimen.

Ingredients

• Irbesartan 300 mg

Direction

Adults: Usual recommended dose is 150 mg once daily, which may be increased to 300 mg once daily depending on blood pressure response. May be taken with or without food. For renal protection in type 2 diabetes: 300 mg once daily.

Side effects

• Dizziness.
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Hyperkalaemia.
• Increase in serum creatinine and BUN.
• Headache.
• Diarrhoea.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding — can cause fetal harm.
• Avoid concurrent use with ACE inhibitors and aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
• Monitor renal function
• electrolytes
• and blood pressure regularly.
• Use with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis
• volume depletion
• or aortic/mitral stenosis.
• Hyperkalaemia risk especially in patients with renal impairment or on potassium
• sparing diuretics.
• Keep out of reach of children.
