TREN Capsule 250 mg

Indication

Prevention and treatment of haemorrhage due to enhanced fibrinolysis, including menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), dental extraction in haemophilia, postpartum bleeding, and surgery.

Ingredients

• Tranexamic acid 250 mg

Direction

Adults — Menorrhagia: 1–1.5 g (4–6 capsules of 250 mg) three to four times daily for up to 4 days during menstruation. General haemorrhage prophylaxis: 1–1.5 g two to three times daily. Dosing should be individualised based on indication and physician direction.

Side effects

• Nausea and diarrhoea.
• Vomiting.
• Dizziness.
• Thromboembolic events (rare).
• Visual disturbances (rare).
• Hypotension (with rapid IV injection — not applicable for oral).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in thromboembolic disease (history of DVT
• pulmonary embolism
• stroke).
• Use with caution in patients with haematuria (upper urinary tract bleeding) — risk of ureteral obstruction.
• Contraindicated in severe renal impairment — dose reduction required in moderate impairment.
• May cause colour vision disturbance — discontinue if visual disturbance occurs.
• Not for use concurrently with combination oral contraceptives without medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
