Cimetidine Ephac 400 mg

Indication

Cimetidine is an H2-receptor antagonist that reduces stomach acid. It is used to treat duodenal and gastric ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid.

Ingredients

• Cimetidine 400 mg

Direction

Take as prescribed by the doctor; respect the prescribed doses. Usual adult dose: 400 mg twice daily (with breakfast and at bedtime) or 800 mg at bedtime, usually for 4 to 8 weeks.

Side effects

• Headache
• dizziness or tiredness
• Diarrhoea
• Skin rash
• Confusion or mood changes (more common in elderly or severely ill patients)
• Breast swelling or tenderness in men with long
• term use
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
• and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
• Use only under the direction of a physician and respect the prescribed doses.
• Cimetidine interacts with many medicines (e.g. warfarin
