Almex® Suspension Albendazole USP 200 mg / 5 ml

Indication

Treatment of intestinal helminth (worm) infections including ascariasis, enterobiasis (pinworm), hookworm, trichuriasis, strongyloidiasis, and treatment of neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease.

Ingredients

• Albendazole 200 mg per 5 mL

Direction

Intestinal worm infections — Adults and children over 2 years: 400 mg (10 mL) as a single dose. Repeat after 2–3 weeks if required. Hydatid disease/Neurocysticercosis — 400 mg (10 mL) twice daily for 28 days; may be repeated after a 14-day interval. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting.
• Abdominal pain.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Elevated liver enzymes (with prolonged use).
• Reversible alopecia (with high
• dose treatment).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy — use effective contraception during treatment and for 1 month after.
• Not recommended for children under 1 year.
• Monitor liver function tests with long
• term or high
• dose treatment.
• May cause bone marrow suppression — monitor blood counts with prolonged use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
