Diazepam P.P.M 5 mg

Indication

Anxiety disorders; insomnia; skeletal muscle spasm; prevention and treatment of delirium tremens; alcohol withdrawal.

Ingredients

• Diazepam 5 mg

Direction

Oral route. Prescription medicine: take only as prescribed by a physician and follow the prescribed doses; read the leaflet carefully. The usual adult dose for anxiety is 2–10 mg two to four times daily, using the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration. Do not stop suddenly after prolonged use; the dose should be reduced gradually under medical supervision.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• fatigue and reduced alertness
• Dizziness
• unsteadiness or muscle weakness
• Confusion or memory problems
• especially in the elderly
• Dependence and withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
• and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Follow the prescribed doses
• risk of dependence with long
• term use.
• May cause drowsiness: do not drive or operate machinery (driving warning on pack).
• Do not drink alcohol or combine with other sedatives or opioids.
• Do not use in severe respiratory insufficiency
• sleep apnoea
• severe liver impairment or myasthenia gravis.
• Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
