Tussipax 10 mg / 10 mg

Indication

Tussipax combines two opioid antitussives (codeine and ethylmorphine) for the short-term relief of dry, irritating (non-productive) cough in adults.

Ingredients

• Codeine 10 mg
• Ethylmorphine hydrochloride 10 mg

Direction

Oral use, prescription only. Adults: 1 tablet per dose, repeated every 6 hours if needed, without exceeding 4 tablets per day. Elderly patients or those with liver impairment: start with half the adult dose. Treatment should be short (a few days) and limited to times when the cough occurs. Respect the prescribed doses.

Side effects

• Constipation
• nausea or vomiting
• Drowsiness or dizziness
• Bronchospasm
• skin reactions or respiratory depression (rare)
• Risk of dependence with prolonged use
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
• and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
• Prescription only (List I)
• respect the prescribed doses.
• Do not use for productive (wet) cough
• in asthmatic cough or respiratory insufficiency.
• Do not use during pregnancy unless there is no therapeutic alternative
• not recommended during breastfeeding.
• May cause drowsiness: do not drive or operate machinery without reading the leaflet
• avoid alcohol.
• Contains sucrose and cochineal red A.
