Indication
Combination of a proton pump inhibitor (esomeprazole) and a prokinetic (levosulpiride) used for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux, heartburn) and functional dyspepsia with symptoms such as bloating, early fullness, nausea and upper abdominal discomfort, and for peptic ulcer-related acidity.
Ingredients
- Esomeprazole (as magnesium trihydrate) 40 mg
- Levosulpiride 75 mg
Direction
Oral route, as directed by the physician. Usual adult dose: 1 capsule once daily, taken on an empty stomach before a meal (preferably before breakfast). Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew.
Side effects
- Headache
- dizziness or drowsiness
- Diarrhoea
- constipation
- nausea
- abdominal pain or flatulence
- Dry mouth
- Breast tenderness
- breast enlargement or menstrual changes (due to raised prolactin)
- Rarely
- involuntary movements or restlessness
- stop and consult a doctor
- Long
- term use may reduce vitamin B12 and magnesium levels
Precautions
- Prescription medicine: use only as directed by a physician
- Do not use if allergic to esomeprazole
- other proton pump inhibitors
- levosulpiride or any ingredient
- Do not use in phaeochromocytoma
- epilepsy
- prolactin
- dependent tumours
- or gastrointestinal bleeding
- obstruction or perforation
- May cause drowsiness
- use caution when driving or operating machinery
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- consult a doctor or pharmacist
- Not for use in children
- Keep medicine out of reach of children
