Indication
Relief of the symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
Ingredients
- Domperidone (as maleate BP) 10 mg
Direction
Oral route; to be dispensed only on the prescription of a physician. Adults and adolescents 12 years and older weighing 35 kg or more: 1 tablet (10 mg) up to three times a day, preferably before meals; maximum 30 mg per day. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration (usually not more than 1 week). Follow the doctor's directions and the package leaflet.
Side effects
- Dry mouth
- Headache
- dizziness or drowsiness
- Diarrhoea or abdominal cramps
- Breast enlargement or tenderness
- milk discharge or menstrual changes (raised prolactin)
- Rarely
- irregular or fast heartbeat (QT prolongation)
- seek medical help immediately
- Rarely
- allergic reactions such as rash or swelling
- stop use and see a doctor
Precautions
- Prescription
- only medicine
- use only as directed by a physician
- Do not use if allergic to domperidone or any ingredient
- Do not use with heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation)
- heart failure
- moderate or severe liver impairment
- or a prolactin
- releasing pituitary tumour
- Do not use when stimulation of gut movement could be harmful
- e.g. stomach or intestinal bleeding
- blockage or perforation
- Do not combine with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. ketoconazole
- erythromycin
- clarithromycin) or other QT
- prolonging medicines
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Keep out of reach of children
