Indication

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID, COX-2 selective) for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, management of acute pain and primary dysmenorrhoea, and as an adjunct in familial adenomatous colorectal polyps.

Ingredients
  • Celecoxib BP 200 mg
Direction

Oral route, as prescribed by the physician. Osteoarthritis: 200 mg daily. Rheumatoid arthritis: 100–200 mg twice daily. Acute pain and dysmenorrhoea: initial dose of 400 mg followed by an additional 200 mg if needed on the first day. Adenomatous colorectal polyps: 400 mg twice daily. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.

Side effects

  • abdominal pain
  • nausea
  • diarrhoea or flatulence
  • Headache or dizziness
  • Swelling of the legs or fluid retention
  • raised blood pressure
  • Upper respiratory tract infection symptoms or insomnia
  • Skin rash
  • Rarely
  • gastrointestinal bleeding
  • heart attack or stroke
  • or serious skin or allergic reactions
  • stop use and seek medical help
Precautions
  • Prescription medicine
  • use only under medical supervision
  • Do not use if allergic to celecoxib or sulfonamides
  • or if aspirin or other NSAIDs have caused asthma
  • urticaria or allergic reactions
  • Do not use around coronary artery bypass surgery
  • NSAIDs may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke
  • May cause stomach ulcers or bleeding
  • use with caution in history of ulcers
  • heart disease
  • hypertension
  • liver or kidney disease and in the elderly
  • Avoid combining with other NSAIDs
  • use with caution with anticoagulants
  • Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
  • avoid from 30 weeks of pregnancy
  • Keep out of reach of children
