Indication
Bronchodilator (anti-asthma) for the relief of bronchospasm in obstructive airway diseases such as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). For use in a nebulizer.
Ingredients
- Salbutamol (as sulfate) 1 mg/ml (2.5 mg per 2.5 ml ampoule)
Direction
For inhalation via nebulizer only; not for injection or intravenous use. Adults and children: the contents of one 2.5 ml ampoule (2.5 mg) nebulized, up to 4 times daily, or as prescribed by the physician. Use undiluted or dilute with sterile normal saline as directed. Discard unused ampoules three months after opening the foil pouch. See package insert before use.
Side effects
- Tremor (shaking)
- especially of the hands
- Fast or pounding heartbeat (palpitations)
- Headache
- nervousness or dizziness
- Muscle cramps
- Low blood potassium at high doses
- Rarely paradoxical bronchospasm or allergic reaction
- stop use and seek medical help immediately
Precautions
- Prescription
- only medicine
- dispensing without prescription is prohibited
- Not for injection or intravenous use
- for nebulizer inhalation only
- Do not use if allergic to salbutamol or any ingredient
- Use with caution in heart disease
- irregular heartbeat
- high blood pressure
- overactive thyroid or diabetes
- Seek medical advice if usual dose becomes less effective or asthma worsens
- Avoid combining with non
- selective beta
- blockers
- Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding
- Keep out of reach of children
