Indication
Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable or vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina pectoris.
Ingredients
- Amlodipine 5 mg
Direction
Adults: 5 mg once daily. Dose may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg once daily. Take with or without food.
Side effects
- Peripheral edema (ankle swelling) — most common
- Headache
- Flushing
- Dizziness
- Palpitations
- Nausea
- Fatigue
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- May cause hypotension
- especially in patients with severe aortic stenosis.
- Monitor blood pressure during dose adjustment.
- May interact with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g.
- ketoconazole
- ritonavir) — may increase amlodipine exposure.
- Use with caution in heart failure patients.
