Indication
Appetite stimulant syrup for children and poor eaters, to promote appetite, growth and weight gain and to support the liver (cyproheptadine stimulates appetite; tricholine citrate is a lipotropic/hepatoprotective agent).
Ingredients
- Cyproheptadine hydrochloride BP eq. to anhydrous cyproheptadine 2 mg per 5 ml
- Tricholine citrate (65%) 275 mg per 5 ml
- Sorbitol solution (70%) BP q.s.
Direction
Oral route. Shake well before use. Dosage as directed by the physician; typical use is 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoons) two to three times a day depending on age. Read the enclosed leaflet carefully before use.
Side effects
- Drowsiness or sedation
- especially with the first dose
- Dry mouth
- nose or throat
- Dizziness
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Rarely
- excitability or restlessness in children
- Rarely
- allergic reactions such as rash
- stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist
Precautions
- Some persons may feel drowsiness with the first dose
- do not drive or operate machinery or appliances requiring alertness
- Do not use in children under 2 years
- newborns or premature infants
- Do not use if allergic to cyproheptadine or any ingredient
- Use with caution in glaucoma
- urinary retention
- asthma or epilepsy
- Avoid alcohol and other sedatives
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use
- Use as directed by a physician
