Indication
Oral triazole antifungal for fungal infections such as dermatophytosis (tinea/ringworm of the body, groin, feet), pityriasis versicolor, onychomycosis (nail fungus), oral and vulvovaginal candidiasis, and certain systemic fungal infections, as prescribed by a doctor.
Ingredients
- Itraconazole BP 100 mg
Direction
Oral use, as directed by the physician. Swallow the capsule whole immediately after a full meal; do not chew, open or crush. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- Nausea
- abdominal pain
- indigestion or diarrhoea
- Headache or dizziness
- Skin rash or itching
- Raised liver enzymes
- rarely serious liver problems (stop and seek help if jaundice
- dark urine or severe tiredness)
- Rarely
- heart failure symptoms (swelling of legs
- shortness of breath)
Precautions
- Prescription medicine
- use only under medical supervision
- Do not use if allergic to itraconazole or other azole antifungals
- Do not use in patients with heart failure unless advised by a doctor
- Many drug interactions (e.g. some statins
- midazolam
- certain heart medicines)
- tell your doctor about all medicines you take
- Use with caution in liver disease
- liver monitoring may be needed
- Do not use during pregnancy
- consult a doctor or pharmacist if breastfeeding
- Keep out of reach of children
