Indication
Combination product used for the management of hypertension and/or angina pectoris requiring both a calcium channel blocker and a beta-blocker.
Ingredients
- Amlodipine 5 mg
- Atenolol 50 mg
Direction
Adults: 1 tablet once daily. Take with or without food.
Side effects
- Peripheral edema
- Bradycardia
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Cold extremities
- Headache
- Nausea
Precautions
- Contraindicated in bradycardia
- heart block (2nd or 3rd degree)
- cardiogenic shock
- uncontrolled heart failure
- severe bronchospasm/asthma.
- Do not abruptly discontinue atenolol — taper gradually.
- Use with caution in diabetics (atenolol may mask hypoglycemia signs).
- Monitor heart rate and blood pressure.
- Renal dose adjustment for atenolol if eGFR < 35 mL/min.
