Indication
Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable angina pectoris.
Ingredients
- Nifedipine 20 mg (extended
- release)
Direction
Adults: 20–40 mg twice daily (extended-release). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. Take with food.
Side effects
- Peripheral edema
- Flushing
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Palpitations / tachycardia
- Nausea
- Constipation
Precautions
- Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock and within 1 month of myocardial infarction.
- Use with caution in patients with hypotension
- severe aortic stenosis
- or hepatic impairment.
- May cause reflex tachycardia.
- Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase nifedipine plasma levels — avoid.
- May interact with CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers.
