Indication

Used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable angina pectoris.

Ingredients

• Nifedipine 20 mg (extended

Direction

Adults: 20–40 mg twice daily (extended-release). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. Take with food.

Side effects

• Peripheral edema
• Flushing
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Palpitations / tachycardia
• Nausea
• Constipation

Precautions

• Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock and within 1 month of myocardial infarction.
• Use with caution in patients with hypotension
• severe aortic stenosis
• or hepatic impairment.
• May cause reflex tachycardia.
• Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may increase nifedipine plasma levels — avoid.
• May interact with CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers.
