AXPRAZOL® 0.5 Alprazolam 0.5 mg

Indication

Used for the short-term treatment of anxiety disorders and panic disorder.

Ingredients

• Alprazolam 0.5 mg

Direction

Adults: 0.25–0.5 mg three times daily. Maximum 4 mg/day. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Sedation / drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Memory impairment
• Ataxia (coordination problems)
• Dependence and withdrawal
• Paradoxical reactions (agitation
• irritability — rare)

Precautions

• Controlled substance — high potential for dependence and abuse.
• Contraindicated in acute narrow
• angle glaucoma
• severe respiratory insufficiency
• and concurrent use with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g.
• ketoconazole
• itraconazole).
• Do not abruptly discontinue — taper to avoid withdrawal seizures.
• Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
• Use with extreme caution in elderly — increased fall risk.
• Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
