Atarax 25mg (Hydroxyzine) 25mg

Indication

Used for the short-term relief of anxiety and tension, pruritus (itching) due to allergic conditions, and as premedication before surgery.

Ingredients

• Hydroxyzine hydrochloride 25 mg

Direction

Adults (anxiety): 50–100 mg four times daily. Adults (pruritus): 25 mg three to four times daily. Children: 0.6 mg/kg per dose. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Drowsiness / sedation (most common)
• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Blurred vision
• QT prolongation (at high doses)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in prolonged QT interval (cardiac risk).
• Avoid in pregnancy — particularly 1st trimester and near
• term delivery.
• Use with caution in elderly (increased sedation
• fall risk).
• Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
• May cause drowsiness — advise patients not to drive or operate machinery.
• Not recommended in patients with rare hereditary galactose intolerance.
