Indication
Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chronic stable angina pectoris. It works by relaxing blood vessels so the heart does not have to work as hard.
Ingredients
- Amlodipine 5 mg (as besilate)
Direction
Adults: 5 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily by a physician if needed. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.
Side effects
- Common: peripheral oedema (ankle swelling)
- headache
- flushing.
- Dizziness
- fatigue.
- Palpitations.
- Rarely: gingival hyperplasia (gum overgrowth).
Precautions
- Do not stop taking without medical advice.
- Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment.
- May cause hypotension — rise slowly from sitting or lying positions.
- Not recommended in cardiogenic shock or severe aortic stenosis.
- Consult a doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
