Androgel 50 mg (1% gel, 5 g sachet)

Indication

Testosterone replacement therapy for adult men with hypogonadism (testosterone deficiency) confirmed by clinical features and blood tests.

Ingredients

• Testosterone 50 mg per 5 g sachet (1% gel)

Direction

For external use on the skin only, as prescribed by a doctor. Usual dose: one 5 g sachet (50 mg testosterone) once daily at about the same time, preferably in the morning. Apply to clean, dry, healthy skin of the shoulders, arms and/or abdomen — never on the genitals. Let it dry for 3-5 minutes before dressing, then wash hands with soap and water. Avoid showering or swimming for at least 1 hour (ideally 6 hours) after application. The doctor may adjust the dose in 2.5 g steps; do not exceed 10 g of gel per day.

Precautions

• Prescription medicine: use only under medical supervision with regular checks of testosterone levels
• blood count (haematocrit)
• PSA and prostate.
• Do not use if you have or are suspected to have prostate or male breast cancer
• or are allergic to any ingredient.
• Testosterone can transfer to others by skin contact: cover the application site with clothing
• wash hands after use
• and avoid contact with women and children
• wash the area before close contact.
• Use with caution in heart
• kidney or liver disease
• high blood pressure
• epilepsy
• migraine
• sleep apnoea or bone cancer.
• Not for use in women
• must be avoided by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
• The gel is flammable — keep away from fire until dry.
