Indication
Used for the control and symptomatic relief of acute non-specific diarrhoea and chronic diarrhoea associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
Ingredients
- Loperamide hydrochloride 2 mg
Direction
Adults: 2 capsules (4 mg) initially, then 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Maximum 8 mg (4 capsules) in 24 hours without prescription. Not recommended for children under 12 years.
Side effects
- Common: constipation
- stomach cramps
- nausea.
- Dizziness
- dry mouth.
- Rarely: ileus (bowel obstruction) in overdose.
Precautions
- Do not use in patients with bloody diarrhoea
- high fever
- or diarrhoea caused by antibiotics.
- Do not use in children under 12 years.
- Discontinue if no improvement within 48 hours and consult a doctor.
- Keep out of reach of children.
