COLODIUM Loperamide HCl 2mg

Indication

Used for the control and symptomatic relief of acute non-specific diarrhoea and chronic diarrhoea associated with inflammatory bowel disease.

Ingredients

• Loperamide hydrochloride 2 mg

Direction

Adults: 2 capsules (4 mg) initially, then 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Maximum 8 mg (4 capsules) in 24 hours without prescription. Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Side effects

• Common: constipation
• stomach cramps
• nausea.
• Dizziness
• dry mouth.
• Rarely: ileus (bowel obstruction) in overdose.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with bloody diarrhoea
• high fever
• or diarrhoea caused by antibiotics.
• Do not use in children under 12 years.
• Discontinue if no improvement within 48 hours and consult a doctor.
• Keep out of reach of children.
