NANCLOVIR-400 400mg

Indication

An antiviral medicine used for the treatment and suppression of herpes simplex infections (cold sores, genital herpes) and herpes zoster (shingles). Also used in varicella (chickenpox).

Ingredients

• Acyclovir 400 mg

Direction

Adults: For herpes simplex treatment — 400 mg 3 times daily for 5 days. For suppression — 400 mg twice daily. For herpes zoster — 800 mg 5 times daily for 7 days. Take with or without food; maintain adequate hydration.

Side effects

• Common: nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• headache.
• Fatigue
• dizziness.
• Rarely: renal impairment
• neurological reactions (confusion
• agitation).

Precautions

• Maintain good hydration to reduce risk of kidney
• related side effects.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (dose adjustment required).
• Neurological side effects reported at high doses or in renal impairment.
• Consult a doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
