Metro-MS 500 mg

Indication

Amoebiasis (intestinal, asymptomatic and hepatic), trichomoniasis, giardiasis, and certain infections caused by anaerobic bacteria (Clostridium perfringens, Bacteroides fragilis).

Ingredients

• Metronidazole 500 mg

Direction

Take by mouth at the start of a meal. Intestinal amoebiasis: adults 2 g as a single dose; children 30 mg/kg/day as a single dose for 1 day; asymptomatic amoebiasis: same daily dose for 3 days. Hepatic amoebiasis: adults 1.5 g per day in one or more doses for 5 days. Or as directed by the physician.

• loss of appetite
• abdominal discomfort
• Dark urine
• headache
• dizziness
• Rarely numbness or tingling of hands/feet
• skin rash
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
• Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after the last dose.
• Do not use if allergic to metronidazole
• avoid in the first trimester of pregnancy unless advised by a doctor.
• Use with caution in liver disease and nervous system disorders
• may interact with warfarin and lithium.
