Levothyrox 75 mcg

Indication

Thyroid hormone replacement for hypothyroidism; also used to suppress TSH in certain goitres and after thyroid cancer surgery, as directed by a doctor.

Ingredients

• Levothyroxine sodium 75 mcg

Direction

Take orally once daily in the morning on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast, with a glass of water. The tablet is scored and can be divided. Dose is individual and adjusted by the doctor according to thyroid tests; respect the prescribed dose.

Side effects

• Usually occur with overdose (signs of hyperthyroidism): palpitations
• fast heartbeat
• chest pain
• tremor
• nervousness
• insomnia
• sweating
• weight loss
• diarrhoea
• headache.
• Rarely allergic reactions.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• Prescription
• only (List II)
• respect the prescribed dose and do not change brand or dose without medical advice
• regular thyroid (TSH) monitoring is needed.
• Use with caution in heart disease
• elderly patients
• adrenal insufficiency and diabetes.
• Not for weight loss. Separate intake from calcium
• iron
• antacids and some other medicines by several hours.
