Bisacodyl YSP 5 mg

Indication

Stimulant laxative for the relief of constipation.

Ingredients

• Bisacodyl 5 mg

Direction

For rectal route only; not to be taken orally. Children below 10 years of age: one 5 mg suppository, inserted well into the rectum. Usually effective within 30 minutes after insertion. Please refer to the enclosed leaflet for more detail.

Side effects

• Local rectal irritation or burning.
• Abdominal cramps or discomfort.
• Diarrhoea
• with prolonged use
• loss of fluid and salts (electrolyte imbalance).
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if side effects persist or become severe.

Precautions

• For rectal use only
• do not swallow.
• Do not use in intestinal obstruction
• acute abdominal conditions such as appendicitis
• severe abdominal pain with nausea or vomiting
• severe dehydration
• anal fissures or ulcerative proctitis.
• Do not use daily for prolonged periods without medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• especially if pregnant
• breastfeeding or taking other medicines.
