Glopril 5 mg

Indication

ACE inhibitor for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure, and to improve survival after acute myocardial infarction; also used for kidney complications of diabetes.

Ingredients

• Lisinopril (as dihydrate) 5 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician. Hypertension: usually 10 mg once daily (start with 2.5–5 mg in heart failure, kidney impairment or with diuretics), adjusted up to 20–40 mg once daily. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.

Side effects

• Dry persistent cough
• Dizziness
• headache or low blood pressure
• especially after the first dose
• Raised potassium or impaired kidney function
• rarely swelling of the face
• lips or throat (angioedema) — seek urgent help
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• Do not use in pregnancy
• with a history of angioedema
• or if allergic to lisinopril or other ACE inhibitors
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease
• take diuretics
• potassium supplements or salt substitutes
• or are breastfeeding
• Check blood pressure
• kidney function and potassium regularly
