Bestatin 10 mg

Indication

Lowers high cholesterol and triglycerides (hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia) as an adjunct to diet, and reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke in people at high cardiovascular risk.

Ingredients

• Simvastatin 10 mg

Direction

Take one tablet by mouth once daily in the evening, as prescribed by the doctor (usual range 10–40 mg daily). Continue a cholesterol-lowering diet.

Side effects

• Muscle pain
• tenderness or weakness (rarely serious muscle damage) – report promptly
• Stomach upset
• constipation
• abdominal pain or nausea
• Headache
• Raised liver enzymes
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Do not use in pregnancy
• breastfeeding or active liver disease.
• Avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice
• tell your doctor about other medicines (e.g. some antibiotics
• antifungals
• amlodipine)
• as interactions increase muscle risk.
