Metformin Denk 850 mg

Indication

Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in overweight patients, when diet and exercise alone do not control blood sugar; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines or insulin.

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg

Direction

Swallow whole with water during or after meals, as prescribed. Usual start: 850 mg once or twice daily, adjusted gradually by the doctor (maximum 3,000 mg daily in divided doses). Strictly follow the prescribed dose.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• stomach pain and loss of appetite (usually at the start)
• Metallic taste
• Vitamin B12 deficiency with long
• term use
• Rarely
• lactic acidosis (rapid breathing
• muscle pain
• severe weakness) – stop and seek urgent help
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions

• Do not use with severe kidney impairment
• severe infection
• dehydration
• heart or respiratory failure
• or heavy alcohol use.
• Stop temporarily before surgery or X
• ray examinations with iodinated contrast
• check kidney function regularly.
