Nodepress 20 mg

Indication

SSRI antidepressant used to treat major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and bulimia nervosa.

Ingredients

• Fluoxetine (as hydrochloride BP) 20 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician. Usual adult dose 20 mg once daily, swallowed whole with water, with or without food; the dose may be adjusted by the doctor. Do not stop suddenly.

Side effects

• Nausea
• headache
• insomnia or drowsiness
• nervousness and tiredness.
• Diarrhoea
• dry mouth
• loss of appetite
• sweating.
• Sexual dysfunction.
• Rare: rash or allergic reactions
• low sodium
• bleeding
• serotonin syndrome
• seizures
• suicidal thoughts
• especially in young people at the start of treatment.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
• stop and seek medical advice if an allergic reaction or unusual symptoms occur.

Precautions

• Prescription only. Do not take with or within 5 weeks of MAO inhibitors (or pimozide).
• Use with caution in epilepsy
• heart disease
• diabetes
• liver disease
• bleeding disorders or with blood thinners
• and in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol
• may impair driving.
• Report worsening mood or suicidal thoughts immediately
• do not stop treatment abruptly.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
