Mediclovir 5% (5 g)

Indication

Antiviral cream for herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and herpes labialis (cold sores), including initial and recurrent genital herpes.

Ingredients

• Acyclovir 50 mg/g (5%)

Direction

Apply to the affected area 5 times daily at approximately 4-hourly intervals. Continue treatment for 5 days; if healing is not complete, continue for another 5 days.

Side effects

• Transient burning or stinging
• mild drying or flaking
• itching or redness at the application site.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if irritation or allergy occurs and stop use.

Precautions

• For external use only
• do not apply in the eyes
• mouth or vagina.
• Start treatment as early as possible at the first signs of infection.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use in pregnancy
