Clovir-Cream 5% (10 g)

Indication

Anti-viral preparation for the treatment of herpes simplex infections of the skin, including initial and recurrent genital herpes and herpes labialis (cold sores).

Ingredients

• Aciclovir 50 mg/g (5%)

Direction

Apply to the lesion five times daily at approximately four-hour intervals. Continue treatment for 5 days; if healing is not complete, treatment may be continued for an additional 5 days. Start treatment as early as possible after an infection begins, ideally during the prodromal period or when lesions first appear in recurrent episodes.

Side effects

• Transient burning or stinging
• mild drying or flaking of the skin
• itching or redness at the application site.
• Rarely
• allergic contact dermatitis.

Precautions

• For external use on the skin only
• do not apply inside the mouth
