Indication

Corticosteroid for inflammatory diseases, allergic diseases and severe asthma (as printed on the box: maladies inflammatoires, maladies allergiques, asthme sévère).

Ingredients

• Dexamethasone

Direction

For oral use, as prescribed by the doctor. Take with or after food, usually in the morning. Do not stop suddenly after prolonged use; the dose must be reduced gradually. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Side effects

• Increased appetite
• weight gain
• fluid retention and raised blood pressure.
• Raised blood sugar
• stomach irritation or ulcer.
• Mood changes and sleep disturbance.
• With long
• term use: increased infection risk
• bone thinning
• muscle weakness
• adrenal suppression.

Precautions

• Prescription medicine
• do not exceed the prescribed dose (Ne pas dépasser la dose prescrite).
• Use with caution in diabetes
• hypertension
• peptic ulcer
• osteoporosis
• glaucoma and active infections (e.g. tuberculosis
• fungal or viral infections).
• Do not stop abruptly after prolonged treatment.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding only on medical advice.
