Duphalac 667 mg/ml (15 ml stick)

Indication

Prebiotic osmotic laxative. Constipation: regulation of the colonic physiological rhythm. When soft stool is considered of medical benefit (haemorrhoids, post colonic/anal surgery). Hepatic encephalopathy: treatment and prevention of hepatic coma or precoma.

Ingredients

• Lactulose 667 mg/ml (10 g per 15 ml)

Direction

For oral use. Constipation or where soft stool is beneficial (daily): adults and adolescents start 15-45 ml, maintenance 15-30 ml; children 7-14 years start 15 ml, maintenance 10-15 ml; children 1-6 years 5-10 ml; infants under 1 year up to 5 ml. Tear off the corner of the stick and take the contents immediately, alone or diluted. Read the package insert before use.

Side effects

• Flatulence
• abdominal pain
• nausea or diarrhoea may occur
• especially at the start of treatment or at high doses.

Precautions

• Do not use in galactosaemia or gastrointestinal obstruction.
• Contains small amounts of related sugars (lactose
