Indication

Used in dehydration: replacement of water and sodium chloride (isotonic fluid and electrolyte replenishment), and as a vehicle/diluent for compatible medicines. See attached insert/leaflet.

Ingredients

• Sodium Chloride 4.5 g per 500 mL (0.9%)

Direction

For intravenous infusion only, administered by a healthcare professional; dose and infusion rate are determined by the physician according to age, weight and clinical condition. Inspect before use; single use only — discard any unused portion.

Side effects

• Excessive infusion may cause fluid overload
• swelling (oedema) or high blood sodium
• local pain
• irritation or phlebitis at the injection site may occur.

Precautions

• Inspect before use
• do not use if the solution is turbid or contains foreign matter
• or if the seal is loose
• leaking
• or the bottle or bottleneck is cracked.
• Single use only. Use with caution in heart failure

• high blood pressure
• oedema or high blood sodium. For use under medical supervision.
